The City remembers
You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining urban centers. Beneath the shadow of the Citadel, the Combine's Civil Protection keeps its watch, and every ration, every doorway, every whispered word is accounted for.
Singularity Community is a semi-serious Half-Life 2 Roleplay server built for players who want a living, breathing City 17 — with deep custom systems, player-driven factions, and consequences that stick. Survive as a citizen, rise through the Union, or resist in the shadows.
You were not conquered. You were selected — permitted, of all the reaching species, to remain. Do not mistake permission for freedom. Be grateful. Be productive. Be counted.
— Office of the Administrator
Allegiance
Sooner or later, City 17 asks everyone the same question. Fall in behind the Union and the order it promises — or slip into the dark with those who never stopped resisting. Lean one way. The city is always watching to see which.
Common inquiries
A semi-serious Half-Life 2 Roleplay server on Garry's Mod, built on the Helix framework. You live a character in an occupied City 17 — not a match you win, but a life you keep. It's a persistent world with a real digital economy (UU Credits, ration cycles, work shifts), player-run factions with their own progression, skill-gated crafting and scavenging, tiered citizenship, and a Civil Protection presence that actually watches.
No public release date yet — Singularity is in active development. Link your account on the portal and join the Discord now, and you'll be first in line for beta tests and the launch announcement.
The portal at portal.singularity-community.com is your account hub outside the game. Sign in with Discord, link your Steam once, and you get a live view of your characters, playtime, factions, achievements, and any administrative record — all from the browser. It's also where support tickets are handled.
Open the portal, sign in with Discord, then link your Steam through the guided flow. The link is one-to-one and permanent — a single Steam account maps to a single Discord account, and only an administrator can unlink it. That's deliberate: it keeps your identity, your record, and your progression genuinely yours, and it's what verifies you for server access.
Yes. You'll need a copy of Garry's Mod and Half-Life 2 content mounted (so the models and maps load correctly); the server and everything on it cost nothing but your time.
Yes, but not on day one. Civil Protection and the Overwatch Transhuman Arm are whitelisted roles, and it's all handled in-game. During a CP recruitment period you submit your whitelist application and sit the exam at a Recruitment Terminal — you'll have to find where it stands in the city, in character. Everyone begins as a citizen; whether you rise into the Union or slip into the resistance is up to how you play.
No. The city teaches you. Start as a citizen and learn the world by living in it — no homework, no lore exam, no gatekeeping.
Immersion is taken seriously; barriers to entry aren't. Stay in character, respect the setting, and you'll fit right in — you won't be turned away for a typo or made to write an essay just to walk through a checkpoint.
We're not asking for money right now — no donations, no premium ranks, nothing to buy. The single best thing you can do is bring people in. Invite a friend, drag a fellow roleplayer into the Discord, point someone toward City 17 who'd actually love it. An occupied city runs on its citizens; right now, one more player is worth more to us than any amount of money.
Join the Discord, link your Steam and Discord on the portal, then connect to the server when a session is live and create your character. That's the whole checklist.
